Make the design buildable.
Send dimensioned drawings where available, along with quantities, intended use and finish references. Identify the features that must remain unchanged and those where alternatives can be considered. A factory may propose different construction or materials; those substitutions should be visible and approved, not hidden inside a lower price. Confirm that you have the right to manufacture the design.
Choose the right approval method.
A finish swatch can establish colour and texture, but it cannot establish the comfort or stability of a chair. Decide which details need drawings, material samples, a prototype or a representative room. Sample charges, tooling ownership and the treatment of revisions should be agreed before development begins. We do not advertise a universal minimum order or lead time; both depend on the item and manufacturing process.
Control changes after approval.
Give each drawing and sample a reference and version. Confirm dimensions, construction, finish and hardware before production release. If something changes later, document its effect on cost and timing. Agree inspection criteria relevant to the product, plus packing and labelling requirements. Sample approval does not by itself establish compliance with every requirement in the destination market.
Project checklist
What an OEM enquiry should contain
- Design drawings or clear references and evidence of design rights
- Quantity per item and intended hospitality or commercial use
- Required materials, finishes and acceptable alternatives
- Sample expectations, destination and target schedule
A useful question
Are you the factory?
We are a dedicated FF&E team in China working directly with manufacturers. We coordinate development and supply within the agreed scope. The manufacturer, contracting company and responsibilities for your project are clarified in the written proposal.
